Email Manager - Overview

The Email Manager helps you to manage all email settings of your webspace. It gives you an overview of the number of POP3 accounts created, the disk space currently in use, and the amount of mailing lists established. Whenerver you want you to, you can create, edit and delete email accounts and the corresponding passwords. Also email forwarding can be set.

An integrated component of the Email Manager is the Spam Filter for the suppression of unwanted advertising emails. The Spam Filter can be found by clicking on the mailbox to be configured under the link "Anti-Spam-Configuration".

Email Manager - Summary of Features

Creating a New Email Account (Mailbox)

Depending on your Profi Server package, you can set up between 20 and 100 email accounts (POP3 accounts). For creating a new email account click on the link Create new Email Account in the Email Manager. Type in the email address desired and the safe password and click Create.

Editing Email Accounts

Open your Email Manager and click on the mailbox to be updated. If you want to change your password or delete the email account click on the corresponding link. In this menu you can also set up email forwarding, autoresponders (see below), and check the settings of your email program.

Setting up Email Forwarding

The name of your main email account is postmaster@yourdomain.com (replace "yourdomain.com" with your actual domain name). All emails sent to your domain, which are not addressed to an existing account, are collected in this email account, by default. For each existing email account you can set up an individual forwarding. Therefor click on the corresponding email account in the Email Manager, select an internal or external forwarding, and click on Save.

Internal Forwarding: Messages are forwarded to an email address within your domain. Mark the mailbox(es) that should receive the message.

External Forwarding: Messages are forwarded to any email address of your choice. In the designated text field enter the addresses that should receive the message - one address per line.

Activating the Autoresponder

The autoresponder function is suitable especially if you are not able to access your email account, e.g. when travelling. If activated, all incoming messages, which are sent to the specific email account, are answered automatically with a text of your choice. In order to activate the autoresponder function click on the appropriate email account in the Email Manager and mark the checkbox Autoresponder at the end of the page. In the corresponding text field type the text which is to be sent via the autoresponder email and confirm with a click on Save.

Editing the Mailinglist

The Email Manager displays all mailinglists currently installed. In order to edit a list click on the name of the appropriate list in the Email Manager. You can find a detailed specification in the chapter Mailinglist Manager.
