Search Engine - Overview
The search engine is an easy-to-use tool, with which visitors can search your website for any keyword(s). You can use a predefined template or redesign the appearance of the search engine and the result pages according to your wishes.
Search Engine - Configuration
Installing the Search Engine In order to install the Search Engine for your website open your Domaintechnik Control Panel and click on the button Search Engine and then on Install. The search engine will be installed within 10 minutes. After the installation you will find the Search Engine Manager here. Configuring the Search Engine You do not have to change the standard settings, in order to be able to use your search engine. By default each directory starting from the root directory, except cgi-bin and stats, is searched. File extensions searched by default are .html, .htm and .shtml. In order to exlude certain directories of your website from searching, add different file extensions or modify search items to be ignored, click on the link Settings in your search engine. Further information on this can be found in your Search Engine Manager under the link Application. Indicating the Website Before you can use the search engine, you have to indicate your website. The search engine analyzes the directories and files to be searched. In order to start this procedure click on Indicate and then on Start Indexer and wait until the indexing procedure is completely finished before leaving the site. This indexing procedure has to be repeated whenever you modify the settings of the search engine and you actualize your website, respectively, otherwise the search engine acts up. Integrating the Search Engine With the following URL you can make a link to the search engine: yourdomain.com/cgi-sys/search.cgi (Replace "yourdomain.com" with your actual domain name.) In order to self-define the appearance of the search engine, you can use a form in your website, which sends the search items to the search engine. The substantial syntax of such a form looks as follows: This form looks as follows:  You have certainly the possibility of specifying further options in your form by integrating miscellaneous form elements.
